NSW leads way in job ads rise |
Latest News |
NSW job advertisements have risen for the third month in a row, providing further evidence that the Australian labour market is stabilising, an online recruitment website says. Job ads increased 2.8 per cent seasonally adjusted last month, with strong increases in NSW (8 per cent), Western Australia (5.3 per cent) and South Australia (3.6 per cent), according to Seek Employment. New job ads rose 2.2 per cent in Victoria and 1.7 per cent in Queensland. The managing director of Seek Employment, Joe Powell, said the figures were encouraging, but he urged caution. ''We'll be keeping a close eye on these figures over the coming months,'' he said. ''However, this remains one of a number of signs that things may be on the move - the employment market is traditionally quieter on the whole towards the end of the year … The employment market for job seekers continues to be competitive, despite the positive trend we're seeing develop in job ad volumes.'' Mr Powell said the five most-sought-after employees were nurses and midwives, public servants (local government), teachers, property managers and public practice solicitors. |
